Remember when I first told you about the fabulous linen napkins I found at Tar-jay? I wanted to spruce up my family room so I re-covered some pillows with the napkins. Then I found a tablecloth in the same fabric and it was on clearance!! I decided to add some of the fabric to my plain and boring fabric panels. This is what they looked like before:
Here is what they look like now:
All I did was cut the tablecloth to the length and width I wanted then hot glued it right on the panels. I also added some trim to finish it off. What do you think? I love the way it looks! Here is a closer view:
I also changed the accessories around on my shelves in the family room.
I absolutely love these shelves! I got them on sale at Pottery Barn years ago. Since I don't have a fireplace mantel to decorate, these are the next best thing!
Here is what my family room is looking like now:
I'm still waiting for Handyman Hubby to put up the crown moulding in here. I think that will make a huge difference!
I can't end this post without a picture of Cocoa, her babies and Jake:
Have a great weekend!
Linking up to the following parties!

Hi Lori, my name is Sharon and i am from Australia. I have just come across your blog from another one. Just wanted to stop in and say hello and i love your home, you are very talented at decorating. Will be back to have more of a look around later today. Your little dog is so gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI love your curtains! Wish I were as talented. Also loving the shelves - I've been longing for something to decorate since we don't have a mantel either. I think I'm going to have to keep my eye open for shelves like those.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the curtains! They are a beautiful addition to an already beautiful room :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, So glad you found my blog! Thanks for all your kind comments. I hope you find some inspiration for decorating your own home.

MamaMonki, Thanks for stopping by! You could do the same to a pair of curtain panels - all you need is fabric and a hot glue gun - it was very easy. Definitely keep watching for sales on shelves. I know Target and IKEA are good places to find them.

Aggieam01, Thanks for stopping by. I am really happy with the way my curtains turned out and love them too!

Lori! That looks absolutely fabulous! I still think that was just so clever of you to use the napkins and now a tablecloth to give your room a new look and I think it will inspire so many others to think outside of the box (the fabric store box!) when looking to spruce up their home! Thanks so much for sharing this at the party this week!

OMG I love that tablecloth--I think I saw it at Homegoods the other day!
ReplyDeleteVanessa, Thanks so much! I am really happy with the way everything turned out. I think I paid around $20 for the tablecloth and set of napkins! I even have some fabric left over for other projects!

Ann, I love the tablecloth fabric too! Maybe I should go check out Homegoods and see what they have! Thanks for stopping by!

The drapes came out great. I've always wanted a guinea pig. The mom and babies are adorable. My daughter just got a baby drawf hamster. It's so tiny her friend calls it a mouse. lol We used to have syrian hamsters and they are easier to handle. Next time I want something bigger so I don't worry about the cats as much. We keep them out of her room.
ReplyDeleteKat, Thanks for stopping by. I love the way my curtains turned out. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to do it!
ReplyDeleteWe are having fun with the guinea pig and her babies. They are such great animals for kids.

Hi! I found you from Maillardville Manor!
ReplyDeleteI once had a guinea pig who came to me preggers! Two months later, surprise! 2 babies! :-) Love your baby guinea pigs!
I keep hearing the same from a lot of people - they get a female guinea pig and 2 months later she has babies. Sounds like the pet stores need to separate the males and females! We are enjoying them so much and my daughter is just crazy about them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by from Mallardville Manor!
