Somebody Stop Me . . .

. . . I made another totally awesome binder! My coupon binder turned out so great that I decided to make one for all my decorating and project ideas. I subscribe to several magazines and am always tearing out pages to keep. They were all crammed in a folder, in no order and well, just a big fat mess!

I went thru all the pages and recycled the ones I no longer needed. Then I separated the pages into 5 categories: decorating, organizing, cosmetic/hair products (that I want to try), paint samples and crafts.

Then I went to my fave store Tar-jay and found this cute binder and dividers.

Now everything is organized and in one place! I can easily find what I need without going thru a huge pile of papers.

Yeah!! I love it!! Doesn't take much to make me happy!  : )

My New Totally Awesome and Organized Coupon Binder

I mentioned the Krazy Coupon Lady and her amazing coupon binder in my last post. After stalking her site for the past few days, I've completed my new totally awesome and organized coupon binder!

First thing I did was download and print the 36 pages of categories from her site. You can do this for free. Yes I said fa-ree people!! Then I went thru my stash of school supplies and found some dividers and clear sheet protectors. I purchased a large 3-ring binder for about $5 and a pack of baseball card holders (about $5 for 30 pages & you'll need about 60 pages). I looked every where for them and finally found some at Target.

I put each category page in a sheet protector.

Then organized my coupons by category in the baseball card holders.

I used plastic dividers between each category and labeled them with my handy-dandy label machine. In the front of the binder I added a zippered pouch for my calculator and pen. I'm sure more crap important stuff will end up in the pouch before too long!

The binder has a pocket in the front and back and I plan on using them to hold my store ads and shopping list.

I love my new binder! It's going to be so easy to find the coupons I need and maybe grocery shopping will be fun experience. Um, no. Don't think that will ever happen!

This is what I was using for my coupons. Now do you see why I'm so excited?  : )

It's Been One Of Those Days . . .

. . . You know what I mean. A day where you don't feel like decorating or crafting. A day that you don't feel like doing much of anything. That's what I'm feeling. Actually, I've been in kind of a funk for the past few weeks. I'm not feeling motivated to do much of anything. The weather has been really crappy around here. It's either raining, windy or cold. I think it's rained every day for the past week and tonight and tomorrow we're going to get more rain! I so want to be outside in my garden or pulling all the millions of weeds in my flower beds. Hopefully mother nature will cooperate soon or I just might have to move some where with better weather!!  Just kidding! I'm not moving.

I'm also kinda freaking out because my 25th high school reunion is this year. When I graduated I think I weighed 100 pounds. I'm only 5'2" and was very thin. Now, well let's just say I weigh a lot more than 100 pounds!! The reunion will be over Labor Day weekend so I have 4 months to do something. Ahhh! Panic! I am pretty sure the guy that I had a HUGE crush on will be there so I want to look good.  : )

I have been trying to get my coupons organized in a new binder system. Hopefully I'll finish it up soon and can share it with you. The Krazy Coupon Lady has the best website and I'm using her idea for organizing my coupons. Go check her out ~ she is amazing!

Okay, I'll shut up now. Thanks for listening to all my complaining. I just needed to vent. Tomorrow is a new day and things will be better. You peeps are the best!!

A Scrapbook For A Friend . . .

I've been scrapin' people! I made a mini scrapbook for one of my friends who celebrated her birthday a few days ago. I've also been working on pages for my girls albums. I figured since they will be out of school in about 6 weeks that I should get the 1st day of school pages done!

Anyway, here is the scrapbook I made. It turned out really cute!

I really love to scrapbook! It's like a stress reliever for me - not that I have any stress in my life or anything. Ha! Ha! I have a 15 year old daughter and a 10 year old daughter. Need I say more?!

I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter!! I hope the Easter Bunny is good to you and brings lots of chocolate!

Goodbye Kirkland's . . .

. . . I will miss you! It's a sad day here at the Thrifty Decor Mom. The Kirkland's store that is less than a mile from my house is closing.  : (   I love Kirkland's! They have some of the best accessories and home decor items at great prices. I'm sure there are other Kirkland stores in the Columbus area but this one was so close to me and I could just stop in for a quick look around.

I couldn't just let the store close without going in for a final shopping trip. I found a few items for my Family Room.

This rug is just perfect! It has all the colors of my Family Room and the blue (from my lamp) that I'm incorporating. It also looks great for spring/summer.

I also found this blue pillow. It has brown trim and looks great on my sofa along with my napkin and placemat pillows.

My Family Room is looking much brighter and I love the little pops of blue! Stay tuned for a bunch of updated pics when I join the Parade Of Homes at A Bowl Full of Lemons!

From Brassy To Classy . . .

Here's the deal folks. I purchased a brassy in-desperate-need-of-a-makeover lamp at Goodwill a while ago. The plan was for it to go in my dining room. Well, I changed my mind. Shocking! I know. I decided to paint it blue and put it in my family room. If you've seen my family room you're probably thinking I'm crazy! There is no blue in there! Just brown, beige, green and gold. Dark. Dark. Dark. I want something light and bright and happy! I painted my side table and hope chest turned coffee table white and that helped but I need something more. It all started with this:

I absolutely love this fabric! See those little blue flowers? That is where I got my inspiration from. Blue is my favorite color so why don't I have anything blue around my house? Now I do! Check it out!

I am so in love with this lamp! Isn't she purdy?

Just in case you forgot all the blinding brassiness, here is a pic:

Yep, that's the same lamp. Amazing what a little spray paint can do.
The lamp was $7.50 from Goodwill and the shade was $12.99 from Target. So for a grand total of $20.49 I have a new lamp that I absolutely love!

I also switched out the brown and green rug for the faux fur rug in the basement family room. Here is what my family room is looking like now:

I'm lovin the changes I've made in here! I still want to find or make a pillow in the same blue as the lamp. That will really tie everything together.

The other side of the room is another story.

Once that monster sized TV goes to TV heaven I can get a flat screen and sell that humongous armoire. I'd like to find a dresser on Craig's List that I can paint. I think getting rid of that large and tall piece of furniture will really open up the space.

The lovely dog crate has to stay there. I tried moving it into the corner and my crazy little dog wouldn't sleep in it. Picky picky.

So my family room is still a work in progress (like the rest of my house!) but it's getting there! I can't stop looking at that lamp! I love the pop of color!

What do you think? I would love to hear your suggestions and ideas!
