Well I'm at it again.
My OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Decorating)
has inspired yet another "free, use stuff I
already have, spend no money project".
You all remember what my kitchen looks like. I
painted the cabinets white about a year ago.
I still LOVE them!
I left the doors off the cabinet above the
microwave and created a little
area to store cookbooks and fun
accessories. I like the way it looks so
much that I decided to remove a few more
cabinet doors.
See those cabinets above the refrigerator . . .
you know, the ones that nobody can reach
and are hiding stuff I haven't seen in
years.
This is what they look like now . . .
I removed the cabinet doors and painted the
inside the same color as the rest of
the cabinets.
Then comes the fun part . . . decorating!
Everything you see here is stuff I
already had. I just grabbed items from
around my house and played around
until I got the look I wanted.
I also changed a few things around in the
cupboard above the microwave.
It had been the same way since last
March and that's just waaaay too
long for me!
I really like having my cookbooks right
by the stove for easy access.
I'm having too much fun with this
free decorating! Now if I could just figure out
how to turn those green countertops into
granite . . . hmmm.
Seriously people. You've heard me say
it many times. Having a beautiful home filled
with things you love doesn't have to
cost a ton of money or sometimes even
any money!

I love it Lori! I've always liked the open shelving look and I like the way you arranged your pretty things. It adds more color and character to your kitchen ~ really nice!!
ReplyDeleteOmg Lori, I would have never thought of that. I love it. You are so right about forgetting what's up there. I think your kitchen looks great. I'm sure eventually you'll come up with a fabulous way to re-do the counters, even though I think they look fine. You have it decorated where everything just flows so nicely. It looks like a kitchen I'd want to cook in :)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend!
Marie
You could go a step further and cut out that wood center board, sand and paint it.
ReplyDelete:) just a thought!
Congrats! It looks very cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Lori! Since we have the same kitchen, I can really visualize that in my home. I love how you accessorized the shelves. Great job!
ReplyDeleteUse what you've got is my kind of project!

I love your kitchen!!! and those little spaces are decorated so cute. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI love the open look and am thinking about doing it. But I worry where will I put everything. Love how you decorated the new openiness. I don't know if I would cut it, what if you wanted to put your doors back on? Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration over at Sunday's Best!
