The Month In Review - November

The month of November sure did fly by! It's hard to believe that Christmas is only 25 days away. I still have A LOT of Christmas shopping to do so panic is starting to set in.  : )

Here is a recap of what happened here during the month of November.

Gallery Wall in Upstairs Hallway

This project turned out even better than I imagined.

Upstairs Hallway Reveal . . . Finally!

It's a good day around here. The upstairs hallway is done. Finally. I can cross one unfinished project off my list! Yeah!

Let's pretend that gross carpet is gone and beautiful hardwood floors are there instead okay. Thanks!  : )

Here is what I did to update and brighten the hallway . . .

Painted the walls Frappe (Valspar paint).

Repainted all the trim and doors - holy cow! This took forever but it looks sooo much better.

Added vinyl numbers to doors. I ordered these from Leen The Graphics Queen. She rocks! They were super easy to apply and can be taken off with no damage to the doors.

Gallery Wall - I shared all the details here.

I planned on painting the gold door knobs with satin nickel spray paint. However, after much discussion with Handyman Hubby we decided to purchase new knobs. We were both afraid that the paint would peel off and we'd end up purchasing new knobs anyway. We found these at Lowe's and they were very reasonably priced. You know I love me some Lowe's!

I spent about $85 on this project. Most of that was for the door knobs. I already had the frames, footstool and paint. Not too bad for a fresh new look.

So there you have it. Aren't you proud of me for finishing a project in a reasonable amount of time?  Ha!

Super Thrifty Gift Idea

Just in case you needed a little reminder . . .
Christmas is only about 48 days away!

I'm not in full panic mode yet so while I can still think straight I'm getting to work!

I love to give unique gifts that the recipient can really use and enjoy.

Candle & Matchsticks Gift Idea

I first posted about this idea about a year ago. Since then I have tweaked it just a bit.

Here is what you'll need to make your own . . .

Glass Jars with Lids - I found these at Michael's Craft Store for 99¢.

Matches - You can usually find these at the dollar store.

Scissors, paper punch (optional), tape/adhesive

Cut the strike strip off the box of matches.

Punch out circles or cut a small square that will fit on your jar.

Tape the strike strip to the top or bottom of the jar. Add a candle or two and you have a great gift!

I added some bakers twine to this jar. You could also add a label or tag.

Remember to "dress up" the candle too. Remove the label and add twine, ribbon, buttons, tags etc.

This would make such a great gift for teachers, neighbors or scout leaders. You could also just make one for yourself like I did!

Have an awesome day!
