Farewell 2012 . . .

Hey everyone! Did you have a nice Christmas? We had my family over on Christmas Eve and it was a blast! On Christmas Day it was just the four of us. The kids stayed in their PJ's all day, we watched "A Christmas Story" and I made lasagna . . . yummy!

Santa brought Benny some new toys to play with.

Yesterday we finished putting all the Christmas decorations away. It was nice to get rid of all the extra clutter and clean up.

I decorated my shelf and console table for winter. It might not stay this way for long. . . I'm already thinking about Valentine's Day!

I found these snowflake ornaments on clearance at Target and hung them from the window with some ribbon. I love how they look with all the snow outside. 

I took a few glass jars and a silver tray from the Dollar Store to create a treat station. Aren't those mini milkbones cute? They're the perfect size for Benny . . . all 4 pounds of him!

I'm looking forward to a new year and more fun projects in 2013!

Merry Christmas and I need a break!!

I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't been around much lately. I've been stressed and overwhelmed and really don't feel like blogging. 

I'm taking a short break to clear my head and spend time with my family over Christmas.

Why does this keep happening?

I cannot wrap my brain around the killing of innocent children. 

This world is quickly becoming a very scary place to live in. 

I really don't even know what else to say . . .

Hello my friends! I am still feeling stressed and overwhelmed this Christmas season. Anyone else with me? 

I decided to work on some crafts to de-stress and get  into the holiday spirit!

Placemat Pillow

I wanted a red pillow for my sofa but couldn't find one I liked or that wasn't too expensive. This placemat was $4 at Target.

I created a small hole (with a seam ripper) . . .

. . . then stuffed the placemat with Polyfill and sewed up the hole.

It doesn't get any easier than that!

Nothing like a new pillow to pick me (and the sofa) up!

DIY Holiday Plaques

I found this idea over at The Lovely Cupboard.

Would you belive that those silver trays are from the Dollar Tree! I know. I know. One dolla!

After seeing that post I hopped in my car and sped headed to the nearest Dollar Tree.

Here is my version . . .

Not bad for someone who is not an artist. Seriously!  I can't even draw stick people. Just don't ask how long it took me to do it.  : )

No-Knit Yarn Balls

This craft came from the December 2012 issue of Family Circle Magazine. 

I made 2 different sizes and put them in a wood bowl with some berries and wicker balls. They were easy and inexpensive to make. Perfect!

Unfortunately I can't find anything online about them. Not even on the Family Circle website! If you happen to have the December 2012 issue the easy instructions are on page 23.

How do you deal with holiday stress? I like to get creative and make something. Give me a glue gun, some craft stupplies and I'm a happy girl!
