Project Laundry Room

The laundry room project is about to get underway! We are going to stack the washer & dryer to create some much needed space. 

I decided on the wall color, accent color and found some great laundry room subway art.

Next to the washer & dryer I need storage for cleaning supplies, soap, dryer sheets, etc. I also need some place to hang clothes. Here are a few ideas that I like . . .

So that's the plan and I can't wait to get started! I'll keep you all updated on the progress so stop back again soon.

Painted inside open cabinets and randomness . . .

Thank you for the advice and comments about my teeny tiny laundry room. We are leaning towards stacking the washer & dryer to create more space. The only problem is that I won't be able to keep my pedestal drawers. I have been searching Pinterest and my favorite blogs for ideas and can't wait to get started! Hopefully this weekend! Fingers crossed!

In between all the laundry room planning, I made some changes in the kitchen. The open cabinets needed some color so I grabbed some paint and got to work!

I had to remove everything to paint so I changed up the accessories. More aqua and white brightened things up.

Here is the cabinet above the microwave. I added some aqua in here too. The chicken was red and white until I changed her up with some aqua paint.

This is what she looked like before . . .

She looks much better in aqua!   

I also purchased a chalk pen so I could write on my new Menu Chalkboard.

I'm loving all the pops of aqua in my kitchen!

This just isn't working for me . . .

Hey my friends! 

Today's post is all about my itty bitty teeny tiny laundry room and how it's NOT working for me!

Over the last few years I've made a few minor changes to this room. Nothing major. Just cosmetic stuff. 

Here is what it used to look like . . . 

Well, let's just say that things have changed in there.

I moved a lot of the decorative items to use in other rooms. Lately I've just been throwing crap up on the shelf and now the room looks like this . . .

I can't believe I'm showing this to you!

Good thing I can close the door and ignore the mess!

Obviously the room lacks space and storage. It's so tiny and claustrophobic that I hate being in there. Doing laundry is bad enough but doing laundry in an unorganized and cramped space is just too much for me! 

See what I mean? That's all the space I have to work with. Plus there are no windows and the lighting is bad. 

Here is the space between the washer and wall . . .

It looks like I have my work cut out for me! Since I can't convince Handyman Hubby to knock out a wall and make this space bigger I need to get creative. 

Here is what I'm planning to do:

Paint - The walls will get a new coat(s) of gray paint.
I'll add pops of aqua with accessories/artwork.
 (I'm using the Thirty-One bag as color inspiration)

Move ironing board to wall next to washer

Add more hooks to hang clothes

Build shelf that sits on top of washer & dryer

Organize, organize, organize!

Add fun (aqua & gray) accessories & artwork

Menu Chalkboard - A FREE project!

Yay!  It's the weekend!  I am trying so hard to get back into crafting, decorating and blogging. The gray, cold weather isn't helping me feel motivated at all. 

One of the projects I've wanted to do involves this mirror . . .

Handyman Hubby made this in high school. He wanted to get rid of it a long time ago but I kept it. It has been sitting in our basement for the past 15 years and I never knew what to do with it. Seriously. Fifteen years! 

I knew it could be turned into something great but what? I love the shape but the orangey wood? not.so.much. After searching some of my favorite blogs and Pinterest I came up with this idea . . . 

 A menu chalkboard for my kitchen!

This was such an easy (and free!) project. I just removed the mirror, painted the frame a pretty aqua/blue, painted the mirror with chalkboard paint and that was it! 

Wouldn't you know that my white chalk pen ran out of ink! I was only able to write the word "menu" before the ink was gone. Rats!

Here is the new chalkboard hanging in my kitchen. I moved my Keurig and k-cups over to this counter and created a coffee/drink station.

I love having special pieces like this in my home. They may not be worth much to anyone else but to me they are treasures.
